3rd Party Apps and a Blowout!

Daily Ramble 201: 3rd Party Apps and a Blowout!

Just a bit of a ramble today looking at 3rd party applications required to play Eve Online and the joy of watching the Angels blowout the Rangers.

Blowout!

Maldonado got the award yesterday and he played well again today but I’m gonna give my Player of the Game to Jefry Marte sine he really got things going in the first inning on Tuesday. He ended up going 3 for 5 with 2 runs ans 2 RBIs while sparking the rest of the team to an 11 run outburst. While pitching is still questionable, Skaggs managed to pitch the 5 innings to get the win even though it too him over 110 pitches to get there.

In the end, Skaggs gave up one run on 5 hits and 4 walks. He struck out 7 and looked decent at times but he needs to stop letting people get on base, having to deal with bases loaded situations multiple times. He pitched well enough for the offense to carry him with 11 runs.

With the win, the Angels areoff to their best start since the last time they won the AL West. At 9–3, they are tied with the Astros and also share the highest wins in the league. So far, so good.

So Many 3rd Party Apps

I forgot how many different 3rd party apps are required to really play Eve Online. Discord, Teamspeak, Mumble, Jabber, Reddit, dotlan, EFT, and many more are all pretty necessary to keep up with everything going on in the game.

Right now I’m in the process of setting up things with the new MMO Book Club corporation. We started at the beginning of the month as an independent corporation but now that people are settling in, we’re joining a group of players that have been around and have some veteran status. That of course means that I’ve gotta get new APIs and add new apps so I can talk to my new friends. Sure, it’s a one time deal, but it takes so much effort just to get rolling.

Don’t get me wrong, these are good tools and they really help out the game. I really could not see any fleet coordination without voice comms and Teamspeak or Mumble seem to be the best choices…I suppose Ventrillo was another at one point, but I haven’t seen anyone using that in a while.

Things get confusing though when you end up with corp and alliance communications. Of course things need to be set up for both which means twice as many configurations.

Oh well, I guess it’s just the price of doing business.
