2018MMM Antecessors Round One Results
In this division of the 2018 March Mammal Madness, I somehow managed to pick all the first round winners as opposed to having one of my main contenders fall to a 13th seed (looking at you #4 Arizona Wildcats). Perhaps it’s because they’re all extinct, not sure, but it’s probably more related to the seeding where all the top seeds won today as opposed to the Hurricanes who lost to the 11th ranked Ramblers (I suppose I should have picked the Ramblers but I didn’t know the mascot of Loyola Chicago).
Never fear though because even without a upset, this was an interesting round of contests.
- Homo floresiensis wins the Hobbit vs. Dwarf battle against the Palaeoloxodon
- Thalassocnus sweeps away Cynognathus into the sea…gotta love them sloths!
- Pseudaelurus gobbles down Archaeoindris
- The cunning Thylacoleo ambushes Procoptodon
- Andrewsarchus takes a bite outta the bunny…Nuralagus rex
- The Dimetrodon sailback demolishes Aegyptopithecus – check out the YouTube to see more about the sailback……who I thought was a dinosaur.
- The Jugulator runs away from the mobile rock of the Doedicurus
- Deinogalerix is tossed aside by the Amebelodon
Something interesting I found out by attending to the March Mammal Madness is just how old the mammal family tree is. Take a look at this article from the Guardian that covers recent discoveries…Learning about old mammals
