Hall of Fame, Close to Home
Daily Ramble 136: 2018 Baseball Hall of Fame
With the announcements of the 2018 Hall of Fame class today I feel closer to baseball than I have in a while. I even played baseball with one of them as I was growing up.
Here’s the 4 guys who made it in this year.
Trevor Hoffman
I’m particularly excited to see that Trevor Hoffman has made it. It took the basebasll writers too long to induct him – he deserved to be there on his first ballot but at least they woke up. I loved living in a city where Hell‘s Bells rocked the stadium for so long. It was great having Trevor in San Diego and for me in particular since I actually played little league with him. We were teammates on the NorthWest Anaheim Little League Angels way back when. Of course he was much better at the game than I was but I’m just honored top have been able to play with him. Congratulations!!!
Vladimir Guerrero
Vlad was a beast! To have had him playing for my Angels was such a pleasure. I always enjoyed watching him and seeing his incredible swings. He’d hit home runs off pitches that bounced in the dirt – truly incredible.. This guy definitely deserves to be in the Hall and I’m glad he made it.
Chipper Jones and Jim Thome
These guys were greats as well. I don’t know them as well but what I know of them, they played well and put their mark on the great game of baseball.
