Daily Ramble 130: Culinary Zombie

Leveling up in FFXIV seems to be pretty straightforward on the Zalera server. I’m not sure if all servers have a double XP bonus before level 60 but I’m zipping through the content and over leveling things. I’ve decided to focus on the main story rather than trying to be a completionist. I can always come back later if I want to finish off those quests. Beyond that, I ramble on about a strange happening in real life.

The Culinary Arts

Yesterday I completed my level 10 Arcanist quest which opened up the ability to switch classes in Final Fantasy. I actually like the mechanism they use for class swapping – you just switch weapons and boom! You’re another class. Not bad and it’s kinda like Secret World Legends and kinda like Guild Wars 2, but I think this method works really well.

In any case, the first thing I did this morning was head over to the Culinarians Guild. Leveling up on the Zalera server isn’t too much of a problem and actually over leveling is much more of an issues since there’s a double XP bonus going on the server. In any case, I became a cook and leveled up to 10 in less than 30 minutes and I could probably have gone faster if I knew what I was doing.

One things I fear about cooking though is that it seems to take up a ton of space in my inventory. I still haven’t found a bank to drop stuff off at, but I can foresee my bags filling up quickly if I want to level cooking up.

For now though, I’m gonna switch over to fishing once I finish my level 10 quest. I figure rolling to level 10 should give me a good start and if I need to create any food for buffs I can quickly level up to whatever I need for that food.

Either way, cooking is pretty quick to level and I hope fishing is too so I can get back to my Arcanist. Actually I think I might just grab all the classes in Limsa before I start questing further afield.

Weird Zombies

It was so strange yesterday when I heard the story about Cranberries lead singer Dolores O’Riordan passing away at age 46. Sure, I liked their music in the 90s but I hadn’t listened to any of it more recently than Sunday…huh…Sunday? Yeah – however coincidences occur, I was victim to one between Sunday and Monday.

I’ve been a fan of the show iZombie since it started up but last season I got a bit behind. So much so that I still have a few episodes on my TiVo That I haven’t seen yet. One of those was from last June and I just happened to decide to watch I it on Sunday evening. Not too strange, but that episode featured a cover of the song Zombie by the Cranberries. Whoa…Mind Blown!!!

I was so shocked when the next day I heard that the singer had passed away. How lazy do the programmers of the Matrix have to be for such a coincidence to occur?

In any case, I pray for her family and friends but I’m just a bit shocked…and I liked some of her songs.
