A Couple New Games
I didn’t have much time for gaming this weekend but I started up a couple new games to at least get them started. The two experiences were pretty different in that in one game – Warframe – I was thrown right into combat while in the other – Final Fantasy XIV – I was thrown right into reading and reading and reading.
I really enjoyed the bit of time I got in Warframe. So far it’s kinda like Destiny so that’s nice, I just want to see what the story is like. The weapon selection process at the start is great – I got to try things out and pick a melee , a pistol, and a long range weapon and I can definitely see this as a game I work towards completing.
The other game I started up was Final Fantasy XIV. Most of my time in this game ended up in character creation where there’s a pretty detailed system that I played around with till I got something I felt worked. But even with the hours I spent in creation I was able to get in game a bit. And most of that was reading. I hope things turn around and there’s a bit more action and less reading but I did eventually get around to a short mission that required me to use my spells. I suppose having played a bunch of Secret World Legends where most NPC mission briefings are voice acted, I got spoiled. All the reading in FFXIV became tedious but I pushed through and got,up to level 5. So,far, apart from all the reading, things are pretty beautifully rendered and I’m enjoying the game. Since I’m paying for this one, im gonna work to make sure I get my $$ out of it this month.
That’s kinda funny….. I’ve been playing FFXIV more or less exclusively for a few years now, and toward the end of December I started to give Warframe a try too, so… “my 2 main games right now” both in your post!
FWIW, Final Fantasy does start slow — I actually didn’t make it out of my free month at 1st, but then I gave it a 2nd shot a bit later and it hooked me good in the upper-teens/low 20’s, and then it was off to the races.
Warframe has got its hooks in me pretty good right now also, so I’ve been letting FFXIV fall to the wayside a bit, but when the new patch hits at the end of the month, I’ll be right back in there.
