Families Dealing with Troubles

In my first look at Vision #2 and Titans Rebirth, family seems to be a common theme between these two titles. Family in Vision is Virginia and Vin bonding together to lie to Vision and keep secrets, while the Titans come together with their family and it helps them break through the memory issues. In either case, family is a big deal but it’s not always in a positive way.

Vision #2

As we saw in the last issue, all was not perfect for Vision’s perfect family. The Grim Reaper attacked and it looks like he nearly killed Viv. But Virginia has decided to fabricate an eloborate lie to tell Vision. She doesn’t want her husband to know that the Reaper is dead, but we learn that while she can tell a detailed lie, someone actually has video footage of her and Vin burying the body. Meanwhile, Vin has been having some serious problems at school particularly since Viv has been ‘out sick’. And while Vin gets in trouble assaulting Viv’s lab partner, Vision puts some serious pressure on the principal to not be so bigoted when a synthezoid is a member of the Avengers. The perfect little family definitely is coming apart at the seems.

Titans Rebirth

In Titans Rebirth, Wally is back but the rest of the Titans don’t know who he is. That is until he literally touches them and an electrical protuberance of the speed force triggers their memories. This issue pretty much lays out things for the Titans and while you can see how much they care for each other, I can see some of the trauma that they’ve had to endure since the New 52 era. The Titans Hunt series really showed how these guys needed each other and they were missing Wally. Now that they’ve got him back I think this’ll be a fun series to read going forward. They really seem like a family again.
