League of Monster Slayers
Daily Ramble 109: League of Monster Slayers
Today I basically got to put in a speed run to the Black Goat Woods. I didn’t really get much accomplished but I did meet up with John Wolf and pick up a mission to find the League of Monster Slayers out in the Woods. I have to say that this was the creepiest session of gaming in Secret World Legends so far. I recall that when I played The Secret World, I pretty much stopped in this zone since it freaked me out so much but I’m gonna try real hard to push through this area.
Sleepless In Maine
The first task I had to accomplish in the Savage Coast was to find John Wolf and on my way there from the Academy, I got my first localized mission – I had to take out a number of Undead Islanders. This seemed pretty straightforward since there were a bunch hanging around the area where I ran into John Wolf, but I wanted to be a bit more careful than usual. These zombies were level 16 and while I’m already sitting at level 21, I don’t want to take them lightly. Now that I’ve move up to a higher level zone, I want to be much more cautious for a while – I don’t want to be dying all over the place. In any case, taking down three groups of the undead were enough to complete the mission and I barely got a scratch. I’m still glad I was careful though.
League of Monster Slayers
Once I found John, he was eager to pass on a new mission.
He wanted me to head over to the treehouse of the League of Monster Slayers, an imaginative group of teens who played at taking on paranormal stuff before the Fog showed up, but who may need some help now that there are zombies all over the place.
On the way, I was fortunate enough to find a local Anima Well that I could respawn at if trouble got too hard to handle, but I also ran across an old graveyard.
I also encountered a bunch of these Umbral Brood Sentry dudes.
They were freaky and along with the music and atmospheric sounds in the Black Goat Woods, I was truly creeped out. Maybe I shouldn’t be running in the woods at night.
One of the cool things tonight though, was even though things were creepy and the mood was scary, I ran into about half a dozen fellow players in my little journey. In any case, I made it to the treehouse and up there, I found an initiation ritual that John wanted me to follow and the ABCs of Monsters – a guide that the League must have put together to explain the monsters they saw around the Savage Coast.
Unfortunately, I did’nt have the time (or maybe it was the creepy forrest sounds) but I wasn’t able to get into the initiation ritual yet – I had to teleport back to the Academy and call it a night. Tomorrow, I’ll head out to Dead Man’s Canyon to touch the dead body.
And as I showed up at the Academy and headed inside, I was attacked by a Sparring Partner. I suppose that was appropriate but it was the same level as I was and it scared me. For the first time I was really glad I had my Sanctuary spell.
