First Look: Avengers X-Sanction #3

This is my first look at Avengers X-Sanction #3. I plan on putting together a review of the issue and rate it a bit down the road but I wanted to put together a few brief thoughts on my first experience with it.

Avengers X-Sanction #3 continues where the last issue left off…with Cable having less than 24 hours to live and Red Hulk having messed up his plan to take down the Avengers. While fighting, we learn that Cable’s attacking the Avengers for something they haven’t even done yet but previously we also learned it had something to do with Hope Summers dying.

This issue shows not only the power of the Avengers team, since it’s hard to attack 6 heroes of their caliber that would sacrifice themselves for each other, but it also introduced me to Cable’s heritage. I never knew he was Cyclops’ son and that Hope was Scott Summer’s granddaughter.

With so many heroes involved, this is a fun issue. Hulk looks like he took the worst of the damage as Cable infected him with the techno-organic virus and he’s not doing so well. Wolverine and Spider-Man show up at the end to finish off the rescue of the other Avengers and Cyclops and Hope show up with Blaquesmith to try to stop Cable from moving forward with his plan against the mightiest heroes.
