The Comics of October 2017
Daily Ramble 70: The Comics of October 2017
October 2017 was a busy month and because of that I dropped down from the 39 comics I read in September to 23 this past month. Not quite one a day and definitely below my goal for the month, but I still managed to push my yearly total above the 250 mark which was my long term goal for 2017.
Along with the reduction in number, I also fell off on my diversity, with only 3 publishers and 3 main titles. I did however move up in one statistic – number of days reading – where I went from 14 days in September to 15 in October. I guess I binged a lot more in September since I had more issues in a fewer number of days. In any case, more breakdown after the break…
Publisher
Marvel shot up from 3rd place last month into 1st and DC made a corresponding fall from 1st to 3rd in the publisher list. Image and Dark Horse were both on the list in September but were replaced with IDW as the only non-big–2 I read in October.
- Marvel Comics – 12
- IDW – 6
- DC Comics – 5
Story Arcs
Looking at story arcs is a bit weird this month as I continue to list the Marvel 1963 as a single arc, but Wolvberine and the X-Men actually had an 2 arcs and 2 stand alone issues.
- Locke & Key: Welcome to Lovecraft – 6
- Titans Hunt – Final 5 issues – 5
- Marvel 1963 – 4
- Wolverine and the X-Men: Welcome to the X-Men! Now Die! – 3
- Wolverine and the X-Men: Mutatus Mutandis – 3
The List
Even with the 5 story arcs I read last month, I still don’t have enough to fill up a top 10 list yet…oh well, a top 9 will do. I’ll have to do a bit of translating since I typically rate the individual comics rather than the story arcs but I think I’m gonna start keeping track of both going forward.
- Saga Vol 3
- Girls Vol 1: Conception
- Hellboy: Seed of Destruction
- Titans Hunt
- Superman Lois and Clark: Arrival
- Locke & Key: Welcome to Lovecraft
- The Final Days of Superman
- Wolverine and the X-Men: Welcome to the X-Men! Now Die!
- Wolverine and the X-Men: Mutatus Mutandis
