Daily Ramble 61: A Look Back

Another 30 rambles and I’ve enjoyed my travels. I spread out a bit this time around with 69 segments covering 11 topics rather than the 55 covering 10 from the first 30 rambles and Comics took the number one spot rather than Albion.

• Comics: 21 Rambles (+16, up 3 spots)

  This has definitely been a time of comic book reading. I covered a variety of titles and publishers from the big two – DC and Marvel – to smaller imprints like Dark Horse and IDW, from the Fantastic Four to Superman and Hellboy, and for the most part, I’ve enjoyed each one. I set myself up for entry into the DC Rebirth story event and I’m moving forward with both a Silver Age and a “modern”, post 2010, Marvel reading list as well as expanding to graphic novels with my Comic-Con reading group. I can see this as collecting top honors going forward since I’ve started reading so much.

• Albion: 17 Rambles (–4, down 1 spot)

  Albion has been a staple of my gaming which is clearly why it’s been in the top 2 of my posts for all of my Daily Rambles. 38 out of 60 rambles have talked about Albion and my time in the game. Unfortunately, I’ve recently pretty much stopped playing. The game is still fun but I started running into situations where it seemed more like a chore than a game. Each day I would log in, farm, and run an expedition and even though they added 2 new dungeons it just hasn’t kept me hooked recently. I’m looking for more exploration and variety and haven’t been finding it with Albion lately. It also seems as though to truly advance I need to spend more time than I have ingame on a daily basis – I spent an hour or so ingame daily and was only treading water it seemed. I’m sure I’ll play more but I don’t expect this game to stay near the top of my posting list.

• SMITE: 10 Rambles (+1, down 1 spot)

  SMITE fell down a rank only because I started reading so many more comics. I’ve been really enjoying my time in this MOBA and expect to see my mentions for this game maintain or even increase over the next 30 rambles. Particularly since I think I might try out some ranked play soon.

• Destiny 2: 8 Rambles (same, down 1 spot)

  This game garnered another 8 mentions but I’m pleased to say, I finished it as a Warlock. Sure I’m looking to head back into the world as a Hunter and a Titan eventually, and particularly on my PC where the game just came out, but I’m just so happy to have ‘won’.

• Secret World Legends: 3 Rambles
  This topic is an up-and-comer as I’ve been playing it a bunch lately. I’ve gotten back into this game so much that I’ve even started back up my Tannhauser Traveller category to cover cool things I see while on missions and my Views from Beyond the Gate category to cover pretty things I just found in game. I envision this game making it into my top 4 mentions in the next round as Albion falls off a bit.
• Podcasts, Movies, LOTRO, Fantasy Football: 1 Ramble each

One thing I will mention here is that I am dropping Fantasy Football and anything Football (except maybe NCAA) off my list – I’m just too upset about the intrusion of politics into sports to pay any attention to the NFL. I barely paid attention to football in the first place except as a fantasy sport and I really don’t want to have to figure out who’s making political statements or not before I set up my weekly lineup. So I’m done with Fantasy Football and the NFL.
