Holy Fire Healing Twosome
Daily Ramble 43: Holy Fire Healing Twosome
The Joseph patch to Albion caused some chaos with healing in the game and I decided it was time to expand my capabilities beyond using my nature staff. Holy staffs are also good for healing and I need to learn their use to become a complete healer. Beyond Albion, I read the next issue in my Marvel 1963 project. Strange a Tales #106 brings back the Human Torch and Fantastic Four as Johnny Storm looks to create a new team called the Torrid Twosome.
Branching out to Holy
With the latest patch to Albion the devs put a big hurt on healers – a 10% general reduction in healing output for all staffs. In reaction to that I decided to expand my healing capabilities so I can deal with whichever healing method works best. So I put my Nature staff aside and pulled out a Holy staff. I had to step back a tier for a couple of battles but I got my Holy staff skills leveled up so I can now use Tier 4 staffs.
Holy staff healing is a bit different than nature. The primary spells are burst healing. There are few heal over time spells so I found myself pretty much spamming my flash heals to keep up with the damage. I also went out and purchased a Druid Robe that increases burst healing/damage so I could keep up better.
On the whole, I think my move to the Holy staff was successful and I feel much better able to deal with any further changes to healing. Right now I think diversity is more important than focus in this game, but then again, I’m not rolling a major PvP character right now.
The Torrid Twosome
Strange Tales #106: The Threat of the Torrid Twosome
Two words…Liquid Abestos!
Or rather Liquid Asbestos…I’m not sure if the typo exists in all versions but the page in the Marvel Unlimited issue spells it…A..B..E..S..T..O..S, missing the first S.
Ok, that wasn’t the only thing about this issue, but it was a glaring error. I actually kinda enjoyed the issue and the interplay among the Fantastic Four heroes is pretty much what I expected. Johnny and Ben are always going to be at each other’s throats, Sue’s always looking out for her brother, and Reed is too focused on his science to recognize anything is going on with the team. But wait, this isn’t even a Fantastic Four issue, it’s Strange Tales.
The story is decent with the Acrobat trying to lure the Human Torch away from the team to form their own Torrid Twosome and Johnny is just so young and naive to buy it. Fortunately the rest of the Fantastic Four shows up to save the day, and even though Johnny gets shot, he fights through it to take down the Acrobat.
Not the most complex story but I enjoyed it enough to rate it a B- which is the highest rating I’ve given out for Marvel 1963 so far. Hopefully things keep moving in the right direction.
