Chickens, Bad Guys, and Gwendolyn
Daily Ramble 22: Chickens, Bad Guys, and Gwendolyn
Today’s Ramble sees me visit my farm on my island in Albion – the chickens have grown up and I’ve gotta decide what to do with them. I also learn who the big bad guy is in Destiny 2…at least he seems like he’ll be the big bad. Finally, I get up to issue 16 of Saga and am really enjoying the tale.
Chicken Power
My exploits in Albion were pretty quiet today. I moved through another Tier 6 Expedition with my Great Fire Staff, but this time things went in a straight forward manner. There were no special arcane staff tanks or anything like that – just a normal hammer tank who easily carried threat and kept the bad guys off me and the healer.
My big progress today came as my chickens reached maturity. On their own, they can be picked up and slaughtered to make chicken meat for cooking, but they also can make eggs. Since omelettes provide cooldown reduction and increase casting speed, I figured they’d be useful for both my DPS and healing builds. So I picked up half the adult chickens and fed the rest of the hens so they’d produce eggs tomorrow. I also procured some kids to raise for goat meat.
Dominus
In my efforts today in Destiny 2, I finally made it through the opening combat series and I met the big bad of the Red Legion – Dominus Ghaul.
As big bads go, he looks pretty tough. He and his legion do a number on the Gaurdians and pretty much destroy everything in their path. I’m not looking forward to taking him on but I figure that’ll be part of the Destiny 2 storyline.
Gwendolyn
Speaking of storylines, Saga is such a fun read I’m really driven to keep reading it regularly. Saying that, I’ve read up to issue 16 and I think one of the things that makes this story so good are the wonderful characters Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples have crafted – and they have so many.
Gwendolyn is one of those many characters. She is the ex-girlfriend of the main male character, Marko but she plays a bigger role than just an ex. She’s kinda adopted Sophie (the ex-slave girl) and fallen in love with The Will (the first freelancer contracted to target Alana and Marco), but she’s on a mission to meet up with Marko. She’s also kinda become the foster parent to Lying Cat while The Will is recovering from his injuries. While she hasn’t gotten the screen time of some of the main players, Vaughan and Staples have definitely fleshed her out well and made her compelling so far.
