Freshening up as a Warrior
Morning Ramble 399: A Fresh Warrior
As I figured out yesterday, Albion is a game where it’s beneficial to have a plan before you start playing each day. Today I decided that since I had accomplished my mage goals and my hunter goals the previous few days, that I would start fresh with the warrior.
Other than using the beginning broadsword and shield to start the game and get off the tutorial island, I haven’t really used a sword at all in this game. So that basically meant I was starting from scratch.
Not only was I starting from zero with the sword and shield but I also was starting from the beginning with my heavy armor.
Finally, I wanted to make sure I could craft anything I needed for a my warrior classe abilities so I targeted Journeyman Warrior Forge Crafting.
With these goals in mind, my focus today was on combat against tier 2 or 3 mobs. This would allow me to quickly level up warrior and heavy armor and I’d also be able to gather a bunch of skins for later use.
Interestingly, I found warrior combat to be the most precarious – at least at this low level. Multiple times I had to run away from the fight to avoid getting knocked out. Sure, it was probably because I was pulling too many bad guys, but I thought I’d have more defense as a warrior. Perhaps it was because I was using Cleave as an AOE rather than Heroic Strike since Strike has greater damage, but it seemed like I was losing too many HP and not doing enough DMG. I’m sure as I get this leveled up, things will improve.
In any case, I quickly leveled up my fighting ability.
And shortly after that, my heavy armor ability. But I stayed out in the field farming mats for warrior crafting. The main ingredients I needed were copper and stiff leather and birch planks. Once I gathered a bunch of each, I headed back to town and turned the raw ingredients into refined mats then headed to the warrior hut. Crafting a few shields, a few swords, an some shoes and studying them all got helped me accomplish my last goal of the day.
So as I mentioned, it helps to have some goals in mind when playing this game. With the lack of actual questing, you have to do everything yourself, which for me means slowly leveling all the skills. I think once I reach tier 3 in all abilities I might try some specialization to some degree, but we’ll see.
