Morning Ramble 251: Runing, Walking, and All the Birds
Some times life makes things busy and other times, you make things busy for yourself. Lately I’ve been trying to do bunches of things and I’ve been trying to organize my life a bit more than normal. Things like Inbox Zero, The Pomodoro Technique, and Getting Things Done are good for organization, but they are difficult for me. The latest I’m working towards is called the 12 Week Year. Basically you treat each week as a month with goals and things to accomplish but since most people fail at their New Years resolutions after a few months, this ‘year’ is only 12 weeks long…short enough that even if you fail at your goals, you can get back into things quickly.
I’m gonna try this out, but this past weekend, made it 4 weeks in a row that I’ve gone for a run. This one was a bit shorter than the others but it was also hotter and my knee has been bothering me the past few days. I actually think I slept on it wrong but I wanted to keep up my weekly running. I posted this previously, but thought it would be good again…
I think this is good not just for soreness, but also with injuries. With the run- walk method, I was able to go over 2 miles during my 30 minute workout.
I definitely recommend the Run-Walk method if you run, particularly if you’re older like me.
All The Birds…
I started reading All the Birds in the Sky by Charlie Jane Anders and am enjoying it quite a bit. It reads kinda like a Young Adult novel even though I don’t think it’s entirely YA. In any case, it’s a nice Summer read for those hot days at the Bay. The main story starts with a couple of kids – one who’s a witch and one who is a technology genius and while they begin as friends it seems they are destined to fight each other…but that’s way down the road, I’m only through what is labeled as Book One. So far it’s a fun and easy read and I’m looking forward to completing it.
