March Mammal Madness 2017 Bracket and Wildcard

Today is the start of the March Mammal Madness 2017 and for once, I am prepared.  Actually, today is the play-in matchup for the wildcards to see who’s gonna face the Sabertooth Tiger…er Sabertooth Cat – I suppose the name has changed since I was a kid.

Wildcards

Tonight’s matches determine who wins the wildcard and moves into the round of 64. To get into the tournament, the Rhesus Macaque, Fisher, Snow Leopard, and Red Giant Flying Squirrel fight a winner takes all event that starts at 7pm Eastern. I’m thinking the Snow Leopard is likely to win but it could be an early upset.  I didn’t put him in my bracket I just left it as Wildcard Winner, and in any case whoever wins has got a tough fight in the first round against that Sabertooth Cat.

Bracket

I wasn’t able to find a spreadsheet for filling out the bracket, so I made my own.  It’s not the most cosmetic, but it gets the job done.

There is a bracket you can fill out at Votion but it uses the pictures of the animals rather than the names.  It’s also not the most straight forward to grab an image of.  Instead, I wanted to focus on the names and seeds of the critters – I didn’t want  cuteness to become a factor in my selections.  I’ve got the Sabertooth Cat losing to the Honey Badge in the finals but the cat could win since the Honey Badger don’t care, but I think he’ll hold on for the win.
