Six Degrees of 2017: Rokk Talk
This is an installment of my Six Degrees 2017 series in which I take a look at the wonderful blogs that surround Beyond Tannhauser Gate. The blogosphere is large but there are so many friends to be found within Six Degrees.
Rokk Talk
Rokk Talk is the last site of my first trip during 2017. My Six Degrees series tries to visit new sites and see what’s out there in the blogosphere near BTG and Rock Talk is the first place I’ve been to this year that’s 4 degrees away.
Rokk is a diehard Death Knight player enjoying the unkillable nature of the Blood DK and the DPS of the Frost and Unholy specs, but decided to take up the gauntlet thrown down by Z and Cinder in their blog challenge. The challenge was to switch mains…that’s a pretty big challenge, but Rokk felt up to it. In Z and Cinder’s Blog Challenge – Changing Mains, Rokk discusses his foray into the Demon Hunter class and how he really likes the gliding and dash abilities. With the ability to tank, self-heal, and his incredible mobility, Rokk might actually be switching completely to the Demon Hunter from his DK, but he admits it might just be a transient thing too.
In Best Leveling Addon, Rokk brings up a somewhat controversial topic in the MMO world…leveling guides and addons. My personal opinion is that they’re fine and provide a good way for casual players to get to the level they want to have fun with their friends. I’ve used plenty of them before, in different MMOs, and Rokk admits using both the Zygor and Conslegion addons at various times. He offers a pretty good description of the guides and the pros and cons of using either. Leveling up is the same if you’re guided through it or not, these just provide a little direction and a nudge in the direction of quickly accomplishing the feat…perhaps I should look into using one for getting my Druid up to 110…I still haven’t made it yet.
I just loved the screenshot in his next post and really want to pick up this outfit if it comes in Tauren size. In The Last Laugh, Rokk talks about reaching Exalted status with the Laughing Skull Orcs and how he got the cool mask in the screenshot. I think it’s things like this that make playing WoW after max level worth while…I just need to get to that level first.
Just like Alternative Chat did, Rokk takes a quick look at the changing face of WoW Tokens in his post, WoW Tokens For Cash. It’s definitely a change in the business model for Blizzard but it could lead to tighter integration between their games. The WoW Token acts as a gold sink so it takes money out of Warcraft which at times can have way too much gold…particularly in the dead time between expansions as people farm up preparing to spend it when the next expansion drops. Now, with the ability to basically spend WoW gold for stuff in other Blizzard games there’s gonna be even less gold sticking to players in WoW. It seems to make sense to me.
My trip to Rokk Talk concludes with a look at The Alt Game. In this post, Rokk talks about leveling his Monk alt and what he does once he reaches 110 with him. It’s interesting to see that he has a series of steps he takes with each of his characters once they reach max level. This is good info to read since I’m planning on reaching max level at some point…I’m just taking my time. Gearing, order hall quests, and LFR are all steps that make perfect sense once 110 is reached. He also talks about making money with his other alts to support his buying habits. From the looks of things, Rokk has a bunch of alts at max level while I don’t even have one…I am so slow. One day though, I’ll get there and I’ll have posts and advice from people like Rokk who’ve already been there so many times to thank for getting back to the end game.
Rokk Talk is the sixth and last stop in my first Six Degrees trip of 2017, and it along with the other 5 sites were all fun to visit and read. I’m sure I’ll come back to his site often, particularly as I work to level my Druid to 110, but for now though, I’m headed back home to see where my next Six Degrees journey will lead.
Where I came from:
* A Hobbit’s Journey – First Degree
* Alternative Chat – First Degree
* Feckless Leader – Second Degree
* Kamalia et alia – Third Degree
* Bubbles of Mischief – Third Degree
Where I’m going to:
Back to BTG to start my next journey…
