Shocked about Bill Paxton

While everyone in Hollywood is gathering to spout their political ideologies at the Oscars, I’ll be going through my very long list of movies and TV DVDs from one of my favorite actors.  I don’t know what his political leanings were and like the rest of the actors in Hollywood, I really don’t care what they think about anything other than acting and maybe fashion.  But I am honesty shocked and saddened to hear that Bill Paxton has passed away.  

He was always a great presence in the movies and TV shows I saw him in. From Aliens to Terminator, from Big Love to True Lies, he was always someone I enjoyed watching perform.  

As I looked at his IMDB page, I actually see he was in the Texas Rising TV show I recorded but haven’t gotten a chance to watch yet.  I’m sure he’ll be great.  

I don’t think he ever won an award, but the movies he was in were some of the most memorable and I grew up watching them. He did get a nomination for Big Love, and I loved him in that series. Hell, I loved him in everything he was in.

According to the Terminator wiki, he’s one of only 2 actors to have been killed by a Terminator, and Alien, and a Predator – three classic SciFi movies.  

He will definitely be missed.  I mean who can forget some of his best lines…

As a Punk in Terminator…Nice night for a walk, eh? – before he teaches the Terminator to curse – Fuck you, asshole!

Or as Private Hudson in Aliens – Game over man, Game over!

Or when Ripley talks about how Newt survived – Why don’t you put her in charge?

Or as “super spy” Simon from True Lies – I have to lie to women to get laid. And I don’t score much. I got a really small dick, it’s pathetic.

So many memorable roles…he will be missed.  I pray for his family and friends and know they will miss him more than I do.  I’m mostly sad I won’t get to see his iconic acting in movies to come.
