Where’d All The Bowl Games Go?
This was such a different New Year’s Day – the football was all professional and not college which was irritating since I don’t really like the pro game. I guess with January 1st falling on a Sunday they had to move all the bowl games to Monday – even the Rose Parade is Monday.
Lord of the Rings Online
I decided this was going to be one of the games I try to complete this year. I really have a desire to get up to max level in a few games and get away from my tendency of playing to level 20 or 30 and putting the game aside. One important thing to get through any of the games I play is consistency. If I don’t play a game regularly, I lose focus, forget skills and abilities, and get confused about rotations.
The problem I encountered though, is that with my new computer at 4K resolution, there are a few issues. First of all, the launcher is all out of whack. Everything is scrunched together and in order to read anything, the font overflows the area provided for reading. I can’t read the server names, my account name, or pretty much anything. I suppose guessing worked out and I was able to load up my account, but it goes to show how the UI wasn’t planned for 4K resolution.
After I got in game, I tried to reset the in-game UI and most things seem to work ok – not perfectly – but the screens for quests, abilities, traits, deeds, and others ALL have fonts that need a magnifying glass to read. So frustrating.
So my mission now is to figure out how to change the settings so that I can actually play without the UI hindering my enjoyment – this is a game where I like to read the quests to follow the story.
Aliens: More Than Human – issue 3
It’s starting to look like while the android survived the assault from the first issue, he didn’t get out of the confrontation unscathed and the miners who did the killing seem to have some post traumatic amnesia. Beyond that, the miners strike up an argument about whether they’re gonna follow Sereda on his mission to save the missing girl or if they’re gonna just try to escape the city.
On an interesting note, we learn that the Xenomorphs attacked Earth at one point which clearly puts this comic series in the overarching Alien universe…the one with Alien, Aliens, Alien vs. Predator, etc. pretty cool.
In any case, the miners, except for one decide to go with Sereda to try to find the missing girl. But first, they rest and we get to dive into the dreams of an android. Do androids dream of electric sheep…anyone? Well, this one doesn’t, but he remembers the crew that he served with and how they’re all dead at the hands on the miners. The final issue is next so we’ll see what happens to the miners, Sereda, and if they’re able to rescue the missing girl from the Aliens.
Another decent issue with plenty of Alien action and a pretty interesting script. The cover is another good one as well.
I’d give this a B-, and if the concluding issue is good, I might just have to read more of the Alien universe.
League of Legends – Defeating the Sustain
Wow – that was a crazy match. I am pretty sure I faced a team with almost the most sustain I’ve seen. They had a Tyndamere jungle, a Vladimir mid lane, and a Yorick top laner. All they needed was to find someplace to put Swain and Nasus and I’m pretty sure they could have gone all game without basing to replace health.
In any case, we won.
I’m actually glad I pulled support on this game since I’m not sure Xin would have been much use against all that sustain. He really doesn’t live long enough to punch through it. As it was, we had an Udyr jungle who was able to lock them down, along with my plant snares. With the two of us providing CC, we were able to bust through their health regen and vampirism and set them up for Tristana to finish them off.
I put out 5k more damage to champions than anyone on either team but I think my purchase of a Morellonomicon helped most since it reduced their healing.
It was a good game, but tough.
