Cloud 9 takes on Samsung Galaxy
Game 1
TSM and CLG must be kicking themselves after watching the first match between C9 and SSG. C9 looked like a bunch of Bronze scrubs compared to SSG. They were dominated in every aspect of the game except maybe cs, but cs matters little when you’re giving up kills top, mid, and bot. It was a truly sad game to watch. I’m actually surprised C9 didn’t surrender at 20 – a solo queue game would have, particularly considering all nexus turrets were down by 26 minutes and the nexus itself only had about 100 hp. I really get the sense that the NA teams have a failure to learn during the off days. How can a team have a week to prepare and study the opposing team’s strategy and fail so miserably? It looked like everyone on C9 had major lag or something, they were so off the game that you’d expect from a world championship caliber team. If they play their next couple of games like the first, they may have the fastest exit of any team in quarter finals history – oh well, at least they won’t have a long trip home.
Game 2
C9 played a much better early game but ended up with the same result. SSG is just dominant. They won a single team fight and it was pretty much over. I’ll give C9 a C- on this game as opposed to an F for the first game. They kept things close for over 25 minutes this time rather than giving up kill after kill. Before the catastrophic team fight loss, the game was actually pretty even with 1 kill apiece and C9 leading 2 dragons to 1. But then THE FIGHT happened. It started out relatively well for C9 with a 4 on 3, but Kennen’s ult hit everyone except Jayce who was still teleporting in. By the time he arrived, Sneaky was down and Jensen went down right after Impact showed up. Before he could do anything to help out, SSG had 3 kills and Smoothie was running for his life. It turned into a 4 for 0 trade and SSG had the baron…and the game. At least one of the NA teams made it to the quarter finals.
Well that’s all I can take today…and I need to drive home, so, I’ll take a look at the other game(s) tomorrow. Actually I don’t expect more than one more game.
