Rambling About The Emmys, Running, And Comics
Emmys
Congrats to all the Emmy nominies and winners. I’m particularly glad to see Rami Malek win since I think he does such a great job in Mr. Robot. I’m also happy to see that Louie Anderson got recognition for his role in Baskets – that’s such a wonderful show. A bit on the depressing side (not like Leftovers depressing though), but it is very touching and poignant and something I recommend watching.
Running
I mentioned tracking my steps earlier in the month, but yesterday, I took my biggest step towards getting back into shape…I went for a run. It was the longest in terms of time and distance that I’ve run in a while – 2.45 miles in 30 minutes. Not the fastest nor any significant time investment, but I gotta start out small.
Basically, I follow Jeff Galloway’s run/walk strategy by running for 30 seconds and then walking for 30 seconds and repeating that each minute for the 30 minutes. By switching between running and walking, it makes it less likely that I’ll get injured or wipe myself out. While I’ve never been a fast runner, I think the run/walk seems to help me run faster and further. Since I’m not just using the same set of muscles I get less fatigued which allows me to keep going and reach longer distance goals.
While I’m starting out, I’m gonna stick with the 30/30 breakdown so I don’t hurt myself. Eventually though, I’ll change to another ratio, but from my run yesterday, I think this hits the spot with where I’m at fitness wise.
Starting back on Comics
I’ve been wanting to get back into reading through the Marvel Unlimited catalogue and had been following My Marvelous Year from Comic Book Herald, but the next book on the list I am set to read has been Amazing Adult Fantasy #7. I’ve read the book and it’s not a bad comic, but it’s definitely different than many that I’ve read so far. Basically, it tells 5 very different stories like an anthology so it’s been kinda hard to put together my thoughts on the issue. I’ll let you know what I think about it soon though.
