PlayStation Patches and Preacher
I’ve only got a few random thoughts today as I haven’t focused on any one thing the last few days.
PlayStation 4 downloads
Once again I got the wonderful experience of dealing with a game update for my PS4. It’s pretty horrible that Sony demands that we pay for download speeds we could have received 10 or more years ago. I mean, I’m pulling down less than 0.2 MB per second – 200k a second to download an update file that’s 13+ GB large. Are they serious? I never recall an Xbox 360 game taking more than a couple of hours to update much less 24 hours. Maybe I’m wrong, but part of this increased price better be going to bandwidth or I’m never buying another PlayStation regardless of if my buddies have one – I never get to play because I’m always waiting on patches to download. And Sony…don’t give me any BS that it’s my internet – Steam games download just fine.
Preacher by Vertigo Comics
After watching the first season of Preacher I was happy to vote to read it for my graphic novel book club. It will be interesting to see how the comic matches up to the TV series. I’m sure there are plenty of things they can show in a comic that won’t translate well to TV and visa versa but I’m sure the general concepts will be pretty comparable. The first graphic novel covers the first 7 issues of the Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon series and seems to be a pretty decent entry point to learn what the comic and TV series are both about. I’m looking forward to reading and commenting about it.
