Rambling About Some TV On #Blaugust Day 24
Season 3s
Two of the shows I regularly watch started up again last night. Halt and Catch Fire started season 3 and it should be interesting now that they’ve moves to the West Coast. When we left last season, things had fallen apart and were promising at the same time and it was a lot of fun. I’m looking forward to this season as this is one of my favorite shows on TV.
Another of my regulars in Forged in Fire. This show is all about blacksmithing and if you’ve ever been to renaissance faire or made any weapons in a video game, I think you’ll like it. It’s basically a competition show where 4 bladesmiths enter and one comes out with a win. They have to design and forge a knife that can pass a bunch of tests and then the final 2 face off and have to make a sword, axe, or other neat weapon. It’s really cool.
This first episode of season 3 was a contest of previous champions and after the knife phase, the 2 remaining challengers had to make a Scottish Claymore. Once the weapons were made, they shot at it with a bullet and split the bullet in half. It was pretty impressive. Then we saw a test that previous claymores were unable to complete – cutting through a pig carcass – and one of them actually sliced right through.
While,I didn’t have time to watch both shows, I recorded Halt and Carch fire for another night and watched the slicing and dicing on History Channel.
