Rambling about Silver I and Thor
Reaching Silver I
Along with playing some WoW this past weekend, I threw down some League and played pretty well. Or rather, I contributed significantly enough to my teams that I made it to Silver I.
After taking over 70 games to make it from Silver 3 to 2, it took less than 20 for me to get into Silver I. I put in a 2.0 KDA and played Zyra for all but 1 of the matches, and I won that one as Vel’Koz with a lot of teammates’ help. On the whole, I feel pretty good about how I played and I have to admit that after spending some time off with Overwatch, I came back a stronger player – in my view.
With the Legion expansion coming next week, I’ll probably be playing less League for a bit but I’m happy with Silver I for the season so far. My goal was just to reach Silver, but now that I’ve got this far, I am feeling that I might actually make it to Gold this season. We’ll see.
Thor’s Music
With the third movie in the Thor series coming out in 2017, they brought Mark Mothersbaugh onboard to compose the score. He’s done other movies such as The Lego Movie, Rushmore, and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and he was instrumental in the music for the Rugrats cartoon. But of course, he’s best know as a founding member of Devo.
Devo was an influential band from the 70s and 80s that was just awesome. They set up new wave, industrial, punk, and alternative rock in major ways and have been one of my favorite bands since like forever. I’m glad the project added Mothersbaugh since I am so tired of the Hans Zimmer’s Inception inspired clones that every movie seems to have these days. It doesn’t have to be the whimsy of Danny Elfman, but I’m so tired of the droning repetitiveness that Inception brought to movie scores everywhere. With Mothersbaugh, I look forward to a much more diverse and enjoyable soundtrack.
