Rambling about Missing Pokéstops and Overwatch Level 8
Found my Pokéstops
I guess the vanishing Pokéstop mystery has been solved. They actually didn’t go anywhere, I just was unable to see or access them. Apparently the Niantic servers had issues once again and things were unviewable for me and co-workers who are involved in these kinds of things. When I showed up at work this morning, everything seemed to be back to normal. And to top that off, the gym that has been controlled by the Red team for the past week was owned by Team Mystic.
Up to Level 8
I made it to level 8 in Overwatch today and actually branched out a little. When I got to the champ select screen for one of my games, someone had already selected Lucio…I could have gone with him so we would have plenty of healing, but I wanted to be a team player. Who to pick then? I haven’t really tried anyone out other than healers, so I was gonna have to chose someone I had not even trained with, and the only one that really came to mind was Bastion.
I’ve seen Bastion do pretty well in a number of games I’ve been involved in – either he did well against me or was a stable hero to focus my healing around. He seems to have done plenty of damage in these games so I figured I should give him a try…
He definitely does damage. And I quickly realized that if positioned properly, which I was only learning how to do, he could devastate the opposing team. His turret mode outputs tons of damage and I actually got a 5 player kill streak in my first game as him. That same sentry mode is dangerous though – enemies can get close and smack you around, and Hanzo was my nemesis, hitting me with his arrows from across the map as I sat there immobile. Junkrat’s RIP-Tire is also a pain with it’s massive explosion.
On the whole, I think I am getting better at the game. With Bastion, I have to focus more on targeting and putting out damage as opposed to trying to stay in the vicinity of teammates as Lucio. In both cases, I think I am improving. With Lucio, I got my max healing up to 6202 and won 3 more games with him today. With Bastion, I’ve gone 1–1 so far to bring my totals up to 6 wins and 7 losses – almost 50%.
Further, gaining 3 levels today gets me closer to my goal of Competetive Play. There’s less than a week to go in the season but if I keep focused, I think I can pick up the 2–3 levels a weekday and hopefully 5 levels each Saturday and Sunday. That’ll get me close to the level 25 I need to begin qualification matches.
