Rambling about Conan, One Punch Man, and the Pokémon Panel Evolution
I still didn’t watch Mr. Robot…too much violence in the real world, but I did get a chance to do some rambling about Conan, One Punch Man, and the Pokémon panel evolution. But beyond rambling, I’m pissed. Why is it that people can’t contain thier violent tendencies to their computers. We’ve heard for years about how violent computer games are…why not keep the evil in the virtual worlds…we don’t need it in the real world. Please stop. And please send you prayers to the victims of this senseless violence. Kill end game bosses not people!
Conan the Slayer Issue #1
Dark Horse brings Cullen Bunn and Sergio Dávila together in the new Conan the Slayer comic.
I’ve never read a Conan comic before but I’ve enjoyed the movies and love how the big brute does whatever he wants. But…well, in this issue, he’s kinda done whatever he wanted and is suffering the consequences. He’s being chased by a bunch of thugs on horseback who track him into a canyon where…Conan gets the jump on them and wipes them out. Even getting away from these guys, though, he stumbles into another camp and is captured. His Cimmerian blood is obviously apparent and people are either wary or respectful accordingly, but the political intrigue is thicker than the caked on blood. I enjoyed my first taste of the barbarian in comics and I loved how the narrator had an old-timey typewriter font – it was pretty cool. The art wasn’t as gorey as I expected, but then he did slice through a guy’s shoulder…completely. The colors are clear and set a nice backdrop for the bare chested warriors and their fight scenes. So, you get what you’d expect…a desert environment with a bunch of highly muscled tribesmen, and a woman, setting the stage for Conan to bring all hell raining down. I enjoyed it and am looking forward to issue 2.
One Punch Man
One Punch Man starts Saturday night/Sunday morning on Cartoon Network and it looks pretty good.
What would you do if you could defeat anyone with a single punch? I would think things could get kinda boring, but the trailer certainly makes it look exciting.
I’ve got my TiVo all set.
Pokémon GO Panel Evolved
It had to happen, there was just too much attention being paid to Pokémon in social media, in the news, all over, that a 400 person room was just not going to contain all the people who want to find out more about Pokémon. So they moved and rescheduled the panel to the extremely larger Hall H on Sunday. This completely makes sense since Sunday is typically kid’s day and Hall H will be able to handle many more of the rabid fans. I may actually make it to the big room for this.
