Pragmatic Blue
Pokémon Go at Work
After a quiet weekend, I got back into Pokémon GO on my work break. It’s pretty clear people have been busy all weekend finding creatures and leveling up. I did neither, but yesterday I did move up to level 5 so I’m not doing too bad. I will say the servers certainly seem more stable this week. So now that I’m level 5 I need to figure out about gyms.
The one near work has been contested a few times, but has mostly been Red, while the one closer to my home has been pretty solidly Blue. After a bit of thinking and checking out where my fellow bloggers were pinning their alligence, I decided to go with Blue. Actually, I prefer the color Red, but I like the Mystic concept and most of the bloggers I’ve seen out there went with Blue.
Home Run Derby
Though he’s not having that great of a season this year, Marlins outfielder Giancarlo Stanton smashed 61 home runs to win the Home Run Derby last night at Petco Park. He was just a monster out there almost reaching 500 feet with a few hits, but clearly dominating the competition. He’s only got 20 HRs in the first half and is batting .233, but he sure knew what to do in the derby. My question is…even though he won the contest, should he have been there since he is not on the All Star team? I think it makes more sense to have people on the teams participate because they earned that honor, I mean how did he qualify for the challenge? There are others who have more HRs in the first half – 15 in fact, so where were they in the contest? Oh well, I suppose whoever picked him got justified by his performance…I just wonder who else could have done as well if given the chance.
Another Win in League
One thing I will say about the current season of League is that there is always a chance to come back. I’ve been in many matches where we were losing at 20 minutes, we’d get a 3–2 vote to surrender, then turned the game around and won. This was one of those instances. Xin and Lucian dominated the early game going 5–1 and 3–0 through the first 20 minutes. Thresh even got in on the action going 2–1 for the enemy team. We were losing every lane and they were all ove Lee Sin’s jungle. But then we started coming back – we got Lucian and Thresh low and were able to knock down the turret when they backed and then turned that into an infernal dragon. Lee and Ez were able to move to help mid as I held bot and we got the mid outer turret down. While it wasn’t pretty and we still gave up more deaths than they did, but we were able to keep the pressure on and grab a baron and win the match. More so than last season, I really feel there is no reason to surrender unless you have an AFK or something…you’ve always got a chance right now in League.
Toddcast 2.0
Sadly yesterday was the last episode of the Toddcast 2.0. After 83 episodes, Todd has called it quits for now. As evidenced by the 2.0 moniker, this is the 2nd iteration of his podcast and that was a follow on to his Podcast of Champions. I started listening during that show and have been hooked ever since. Seeing that this is his 3rd podcasting project, perhaps he might feel the need to come out with Toddcast 2.1 or 3.0 or maybe Podcast of Toddians or something. In any case, I’ve enjoyed listening to his shows over the years and hope his sabbatical will be short and he’ll be back on the podcast waves soon. In the mean time, I’ll keep an eye on his web comic – Gadgethovel.
