Bad Half but Advance to Silver IV

The Angels

There was some hope there, but heading into the All Star break, my Angels are in last place in the AL West. They’ve had some really tough breaks…2 of their top starters went down early with season ending injuries and another hasn’t pitched a game yet this season. But things are not all bad. They did win 4 out of 6 to finish the first half and added former Cy Young Award winner Tim Lincecum to the rotation so I think things are looking positive. But no matter how positive I am about the team, the fact is that they ended the first half more than 10 games under .500 for the first time since 1994. They’re at 37-52 which is pretty bad…with only 2 AL and 4 total teams below them in record so far. It’s not looking like a good season, but hopefully they’ll turn things around and make a run at a decent record in the second half.

Silver 4

As I mentioned yesterday, I’ve been trying to move up in League of Legends and I finally made it back to Silver 4 and this time I feel like I’m not gonna look back. Zyra once again carried me up in rank and my new strategy of banning Ashe or Hecarim seems to be working well. I was able to string together 4 wins in a row and made it up a notch. Once there, I ran into an old friend and we won a few more games so I’m sitting at 39 lp in Silver 4 and I feel pretty good. I’ve been using the WTFast utility to handle my connections to the servers and so far things seem to be working better. I’m still on the free trial, but am seriously thinking about paying for the basic version. Since its been working and my connection has been pretty quick – a bit faster than before – I think it might be worth trying with other games once I get a new computer.

Comic-Con Prep

Mostly though, other than the usual errands, I’ve been getting prepared for Comic-Con. I’m pretty excited for things and am looking forward to hearing what the various show runners, creators, and writers have to say about their properties. They released the schedule for the whole con over the weekend, but I only made a cursory review of Friday thru Sunday, with my focus on Thursday so far. Today, I’ll give a look and try to layout what Friday panels interest me and I’ll post my thoughts.

  1. Wow congrats! I’ve never been above Silver V, but that’s because usually the slog through bronze means I’m sick of ranked by the time I hit silver. I’m in Bronze II from where they first slotted me, and though I should be able to get to silver easy enough, I remember last season where I was up and down over and over again. I actually haven’t played in a while either, because I’m working on the backlog. Ah well. Perhaps I’ll get it done before the season ends.
