Planning the Blood Drive and TV Panels
Today I found out a few things further about Comic-Con. With less than 3 weeks to go until the convention, each day there are bunches of announcements coming from the official site and others. In reality, there are so many events related to Comic-Con, it’s hard to keep track of everything so I’ll just take a look at things I’m interested in.
The Robert A. Heinlein Blood Drive
This is the 40th year of the blood drive and I always try to donate. The San Diego Blood Bank always gives out goodies…it used to be True Blood related for many years, and before that, Buffy the Vampire Slayer had some giveaways. While the swag is neat, I’m just happy to get a reminder each year to do my regular donations. Usually, I give during Comic-Con and then 3–6 months later if I stay healthy, I try to give an apheresis donation – typically around Thanksgiving. They’re open for donations from 9–6 Thursday thru Saturday and then 10–3:30 on Sunday. So you can actually donate before the exhibit hall opens each day other than Sunday.
TV and Movies
As for panels, some TV and Movie panels have been announced even though officially, the panels won’t be announced till later this week. In any case, I’m already looking at a few of the dates and times I’m interested in.
So far, on Thursday, the announced panels seem a bit sparse with only Luke Cage at 5:45 in ballroom 20. Teen Wolf is in the same ballroom, but I haven’t been watching the last few seasons so I’m not sure what’s going on in that show.
On Friday, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is in Room 6A at 11:45 and they’re always fun…I’m still a few episodes behind in the last season, but I wouldn’t mind finding out what’s to come. The 100 is in ballroom 20 at 12:30 and I definitely want to try to make that panel. In hall H, The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones start at 1, but I don’t think I’m gonna try to make those since the lines will be crazy. But then at 3:15 a bunch of panels I’d like to see start up – American Gods (6BCF), Bates Motel (6A), Archer (Indigo), iZombie (20), and Preacher (H). Too many and too scattered around the con for me to make them all…decisions will be made.
Saturday is spread out over the whole day and all over the place with The Simpsons starting things off, then Lucifer, Supergirl, The Flash, Outcast, Last Man on Earth, Riverdale, Ash Vs. the Evil Dead, and of course Kevin Smith in Hall H to finish off the day.
Sunday though is a bit sparse with only 24:Legacy something I’m interested in.
With all the cool TV panels on Friday and Saturday, I’m thinking I might focus on new shows. American Gods, Preacher, Outcast, and Riverdale might be my primary targets but of course I gotta see what other panels are interspersed throughout those days.
I found most of the panel info from Variety which seems to have a pretty good listing for TV and Movies.
