PS4 Diablo
With my laptop currently down, I’ve turned to the PS4 for my gaming outlet. Fortunately, I’ve got a few games I’ve played a little and some I’ve not even touched. One that hasn’t been played yet, at least on the PS4 is Diablo 3.
Now that I have no PC, I’ve decided to have a run at a Witch Doctor on my PS4, but I was surprised to find out that seasonal characters are not included on consoles. Apparently consoles don’t have the community for running seasons…
Q: Will Seasons be coming to console?
A: Some features on console are best designed for that platform, and the same is true for the PC version of the game. A large part of the fun of Seasons is the entire community rerolling heroes together at the same time. Because the offline and disconnected nature of console does not support this style of play, we do not currently have plans to implement Seasons on console.
That was from the battle.net FAQ for season 6.
I suppose there’s more of a community on the PC, but Blizzard seems to be denying that community from forming on the consoles. First, they lock the console characters into their own ecosystem so they can’t play with each other or with PC players. Now, they lock them from recurring events that help contribute to community. It seems they’re creating their own self-fulfilling prophecy.
Oh well. I suppose I’ll get by without seasonal characters and their special items on the PS4. It’s just too bad I can’t continue my leveling from the PC.
I have heard that Final Fantasy XIV allows cross platform play between PS4 and PC, so maybe I’ll be focusing on that. At least I’ll be able to continue my progress once I get a new computer.
