PS4 Bandwidth Sucks
I finally got to play some Destiny on my PS4. So far, it’s a decent enough game…point and shoot. I picked a Warlock though I’m not seeing spells per say, but I do like the grenades. Level 3 isn’t much, but I am glad to have something to pass the time before I get a new computer. I will say, though, that I really dislike the amount of time it takes to get to play a game on the PS4.
Every time I get a new game, it even seems like every time I start up a game I haven’t played in a week, it takes literally hours to download any patches. What is it with Sony and limiting bandwidth? Particularly when I have a brand new game…I just spent $60 to bring a new game home and play and they expect me to sit there for hours watching the download trickle in. I’m pretty sure if I had a 1200 baud modem, I’d be getting faster downloads than I get with my PS4.
In any case, I’m playing my PS4 more now that my computer is down. I’m looking into new laptops as well…perhaps an Alienware since they have the external graphics adapter. With the reports of the Nvidia 1070 and 1080 being so positive, I figure one of those would be the current best video cards, but it’s gonna take a while for that kind of power to come out in laptops…that is, except if you have a graphics adapter that lets you use desktop cards on a laptop.
So…if I pick up an Alienware – I’m not sure I want to do this since I don’t trust Dell too much – I can play with the internal 980M for now and grab a 1080 once games start requiring the increased power. Well, I don’t really know…I think I’m gonna do some more research.
What do you all play on? Have you upgraded to a 1070 or 1080 yet? I really hate having to get a new computer – it’s always such a pain.
