More than just Boots

The Superman boots will be filled in season 2 of Supergirl and the chosen one is…Tyler Hoechlin. 

The Teen Wolf actor will be playing Superman when the second season of the show moves to the CW.

I watched him in the first few seasons of Teen Wolf and he’s got the presence to pull off the Man of Steel, but let’s hope the focus remains on the Girl of Steel.  I enjoyed how the first season of the show hinted that Kara had to work hard to take care of the problems of National City herself and not ‘phone a friend’ to have Superman come to the rescue.  It was good to have her make a case for herself as a superhero and even when she teamed up with the Flash, she remained a strong character who could deal with almost anything.  

One worry I have is that if they bring in Superman, that would up the ante for the bad guys.  We’ve already got Supergirl and Martian Manhunter as regulars that handle anything that threatens National City.  With the appearance of Superman, we’re gonna have to see some big bad that requires 2 Kryptonians and a Martian?  Will there be anything left of the city afterwards?  What about their special effects budget?

In any case, I’m looking forward to the next season and how they build up Kara’s story.
