A Few Shows I Watched Last Week
I didn’t have much time for gaming or for TV this past week, but I did a little of both. On top of that, I’m pretty far behind in a number of shows so I’m a bit all over the place with what I watched.
Game of Thrones often elicits emotions from me as I watch the drama unfold, but tonight’s episode has to have been the most touching episode I’ve seen of the show. I was really sad to learn both the origin and what seems to be the end of Hodor. I mean, I hope he makes it out of this situation, but this IS Game of Thrones after all – George RR thrives on taking away favorite characters. And who knows, maybe we’ll all come to love newcomer Euron Greyjoy…though he hasn’t started out too endearing (and the chant for Euron! Euron! Euron! made me chuckle a little). With this emotional ending, I have to give Game of Thrones my top spot for the week.
Better Call Saul episode 9 – Nailed was aired a while ago but I only got to this week. Kim really let Chuck have it this week and I am glad someone put Chuck in his place. He’s just as bad a person as he blames Jimmy for being. He just thinks he’s so superior and that everyone knows how great he is and how horrible Jimmy is. His delusion is that Kim will go along with him instead of Jimmy when she’s obviously sided with Jimmy before. In any case, I loved the scenes where Chuck is falling apart in court and then when Kim lets him have it. These make this episode one of my favorites this season.
My next pick actually aired a few weeks ago as well, but I didn’t get a chance to see it at the time…12 Monkeys episode 2 – Primary. This seems to be the major hook for this season. Cole and company actually prevent the virus from being released. This has been the whole plan from the movie to the first season and now they’ve done it. But things didn’t change to ‘normal’. Or rather, things change but not completely. The future changed…almost back to the ‘normal’ when season 1 started, but Cole, Ramse, Cassie, and Dr. Jones know that they changed things and somehow, they did not save the world. A promising addition due to the time changes is that Michael Hogan (Colonel Tigh from Battlestar Galactica) has joined the cast as the love interest of Dr. Jones. This episode looks like it’s set up some interesting possibilities for the rest of the season.
Alone episode 4 – Hunger’s Grip was both good and surprising. Tracy successfully dealt with a momma bear and cub in the middle of the night, but she broke down emotionally the next day. I thought she was gonna last for a while, but the rage she felt when confronting the bears was too much for her to handle…she must have seen too much as a cop that the animals brought out some PTSD. So I suppose I’m not good at picking survivors…I thought Desmond would still be around at this point too, but he was the first to tap out. In any case, things are getting interesting with permanent shelters going up and it seems everyone has been able to get at least some food lately.
Finally, I gave a new show a shot called Hunters on SyFy and it wasn’t bad…it wasn’t great either. I’m not really sure about the aliens or whatever they are, but I’ll give the show a shot to explain things to me. Im hoping this will be a good replacement for Helix but that’s still to be seen.
My day in Warcraft…
With 100 days to the expansion I decided to play a bit of WoW. So here’s my Goblin Hunter…
Decked out to go to a party as one of her first quests. I decided on trying out a goblin since I’ve not played one often and I wanted to use the other races for other classes. Hunter seems to fit well with goblins too since they both do well with engineering.
Morning Ramble 2.98
I fell asleep during the 1st episode of Hunters and nothing about it made either me or my wife feel like we wanted to watch any more of it. GoT was good. Haven’t seen any of the rest.
Hunters is definitely on the bubble for me. I’ve recorded a few episode and will give it at least one more till I make a final decision, but I’m not as hopeful as I was going into the pilot.
