Free Stuff and Zyra Day 2

Eve Online Free Weekend

Eve Online is celebrating its anniversary. 13 years strong, and they are giving everyone a free weekend to help them get their feet wet in one of the wonderful world of New Eden. I guess this started today, May 5th, but it goes through Sunday. A weekend isn’t a lot of time in Eve, but you can at least get a feel for some of the careers and basic mechanics of the game.  You should be able to get into some PvE and PvP combat, do some mining, pursue some of the missions, and even do some of the hacking and scanning that make this game so much fun. It doesn’t take much to get your feet wet in Eve and once in, there is so much to do and learn. 

10 Days of The Secret World

The Secret World has updated their trial experience.  You can download from Play the Secret World and get 10 days free. That’s plenty of time to get the feel for the game and this game is all about the feel for me.  I love the creepiness of this game.  It feels like you’re playing an episode of LOST or the X-Files. 

Zyra Day 2

Day 2 went better with Zyra. I’m not sure if it’s because I’m getting used to the new mechanics or I played against lesser opponents, but I did better.  I felt more in control and able to understand a bit better how my passive seeds worked.  Positioning is important in order to get them closer to where you want them to be. And if you work it right, you can get 4+ plants shooting at enemy champs.  They may each do less damage, but I’ve been able to stay in the top 2  damage dealers on my teams, only losing out once to Veigar who seems a bit over powered right now. 

It also seems like the AI for the plants focuses on enemy champs a bit better.  Previously you could throw down a plant on top of a bad guy and it would shoot the minion at the farthest part of its range rather than the champion right next to it.  Now they seem to like shooting at champs…I hope that continues because it helps.

As a support , I’ve started prioritizing my grasping roots over my Q at least to rank 2. Once there, it holds things a lot longer it seems and with so many plants being spawned I can trap couple champs and really pound them. 

Finally, it was a fun experience watching an Udyr run away when he saw me…he came in range of a forest of seeds and I could have really hurt him, but he got outta Dodge fast. I think I can get used to that.
