Winners and Losers

Whenever there is competition there are winners and losers. Yesterday was an ending and a beginning, and there were winners and losers.

Angels

My Angels were one of the losers. They ran into a team that very well looked like it could make the World Series this year…the Cubs. They looked pretty impressive, particularly with their Cy Young award winning ace on the mound. In truth, it certainly looks like the student has become the master as Joe Maddon was a member of Mike Scioscia's World Series staff when the Angels won in 2002. Joe looks like he's put together a team that can break a century old curse.

NCAA Champions

Opposed to my Angels, a winner last night was Villanova. Actually, I think we were all winners to have seen that final buzzer beater. What a tournament it was. My bracket was decimated in the Elite Eight, but it was still fun to watch. I figured North Carolina was gonna pull it off, but am glad to see Nova win, and in such a spectacular manner.

League of Legends

And then there is my League of Legends Season 6. When last I left off, I was entering my promo series to get to Bronze 4, but things stared off poorly. I lost my first game even though I raked up 11 kills as a support. My team and I played well but didn't have any tanks for the late game. One thing that playing as Lux has taught me is how to play without escapes, but sometimes when the enemy exploits that, there's not much that can be done. Xin and Nidalee have good engages and they focused me whenever they got on my screen. In any case, my first promo game was not a success. Fortunately, my next two games were better and I made it up to Bronze 4.

Unfortunately, I didn't stick there too long. After going 2-1 in my promo series, I only won 2 more of my next 7 matches. One thing that always gets to me at low ELO is there are many games that are virtually unwinnable. Aside from times like my first promo game where your team has no tanks, there are too many games with trolls and people who just don't care. Only 2 of these 7 matches were without trolls or AFKs, on either side so I started tracking how I performed in games with and without trolls, and I can definitely see a difference.

In games where I have a troll/AFK on my team, I end up with a 1.97 KDA, but when I get to actually play a game, I put up a decent 2.95 KDA. A whole point higher, at least in those 10 games, and the hard part is, as a support main, it can be really hard to deal with games when there are trolls. As support, I find It difficult to carry when I have a full team contributing to winning, much less when I have a troll or AFK on my team.

Oh well, I saw Bronze 4 for a few games. I know I'll be back, but for now, I'm 13-12 for season 6 and back in Bronze V.
