What is going on in Eve Online?
I've been thinking of getting back into Eve Online. I've got a free or a .99¢ reactivation offer, but I'm still not sure. I mean, I really like the game and it kept me occupied for many months, learning the ins and outs. It's pretty complicated, but I like that in a game. It's definitely not a game that hands you success.
But I fell away from it. Mostly because it's a hard game to play casually when enjoying other games. With the complex fighting mechanisms, the intricate economy, and the crazy politics, it can be pretty daunting to keep track of everything needed to keep playing.
So, since I got emails with reactivation offers, I thought I'd take a look to see if it was worth coming back to. And from what I've seen today, things look pretty interesting.
I guess there's a pretty big war raging with PL and friends against the traditional bad guys of New Eden…The Goons or what they call themselves now – the Imperium. And it sounds like at least for now, the Goons are in retreat. They actually have pulled out of Vale of the Silent and look to be consolidating their forces closer to Deklein. I have to say I don't mind seeing them having a tough time and I'd like to see some of the smaller guys have some success, but PL isn't necessarily a small guy.
There's also a new patch coming out soon that'll introduce updates to player owned stations. I've seen how they've gone through a bunch of machinations for player owned structures, entosis devices, and sovereignty, and for the most part, I checked out when all that stuff started being enacted. Once they added jump fatigue to artificially slow down travel I started to fall away. I enjoyed flying around the galaxy non-stop without worrying about timers, so as usually if I do go back into Eve, I'll have a lot to learn.
So as typical, since I have a few games I'm playing and a few I want to get into, I'm gonna run the updater for Eve and see where my characters are and if it'll be worth reactivating them so I can get in some good fights.
