Optimism Replaced by League Reality

My next set of placement games saw me go 2-2 and I realized that my hopes for everything being perfect in season 6 were misplaced.

Game 1 had me playing Xin Zhao as a jungler. Now, I did not sign up as the jungle role – I requested support or mid, but a funny thing happened. Usually, I don't swap champs with anyone because I've been burned too many times. Why I thought things would work this time – I don't know. Basically, I had first pick and someone convinced me to grab them Xin and they would grab Lux for me. Well, first off, they didn't have Lux so I was gonna go with Morgana…but then they went AFK for the 30 seconds available for swapping champs – I ended up with Xin and went jungle. Great – I haven't played Xin in at least a month. Needless to say with me being unaccustomed to jungle and an AFK support Morgana, we lost.

2-2 in placement now.

Game 2 and 3 went well. I was able to play support Lux some more and acquitted myself pretty well with a 2.6 and a 9.0 KDA. Game 2 saw the opponents run into some hard luck as their top laner – Mundo – went AFK halfway through the 30 minute match, and game 4 was just an all around good game. We managed to pull off a win even though Vayne never seemed to take advantage of my bind or slows – she just didn't want to go aggressive, but we ended up winning none-the-less.

Game 4 was another story. There are really a few champions that I hate when I am playing Lux, and pretty much anytime I am playing League – Quinn, Xin, and Udyr. Each of these guys have a very good initiate and tend to be very fast – so much so, that if I am not around teammates, I tend to get destroyed by them. Game 4 featured a Quinn who knew how to use his Vault to really hurt my poor Lux, and pretty much everyone on my team. I did manage to pull off a 2.125 KDA, but I died 8 times…way too much for a 26 minute game.

So now I'm sitting at 4-3 in my placement. Hopefully I'll win the next few games and go 7-3 and maybe…just maybe…I'll be placed somewhere above the basement.
