League of Legends Placement Games
Each season of League of Legends begins with a series of 10 placement games – these games determine what tier you begin the season in. Season 4 was my first playing ranked, and I ended up starting in Bronze and ending in Bronze. Season 5 saw me improve a bit, starting in Bronze, advancing to Silver in mid season, and then falling back into Bronze to finish out the forgettable season.
During season 6, I am hoping to get to and stay in Silver if not move up to Gold. To do this, I needed to have a good set of placement games so I would start out positioned for greatness – lol.
It all started out well enough getting to play support with the new team select mechanism and I went with Lux. Things quickly changed though within the first 5 seconds of the first game of my ranked season, I flashed…in the Nexus.
My wonderful attempt to get the game and season off on the right foot ended up with me NOT hitting the chat button and starting to type my message…
gl, H (Flash).
Great!!! What I meant to say was
gl, HF, and let's win this!
Well, setting myself up with a disadvantage was not the plan, but there I was. I really need to make a macro or at least cut/paste my motivating comment…that way I won't give myself a 5 minute delay for my ONLY escape (as Lux).
I'm not sure if it was the added caution of playing those first 5 minutes without flash, or just my learned avoidance of damage as Lux, but I managed to go the entire game without a death. I think this was my first ranked game without a single death…at least it was for season 6.
I went 7/0 with a 65% kill participation rate and we won pretty handily in 30 minutes.
I doubt I'll try using flash in the first 5 seconds as a test to see if works every time, but I'm glad it worked in this case. I just hope this first win shows the promise that season 6 holds for me.
