Blaugust Day 22 – More Martian and Bronze

Continuing The Martian

I read or rather listened to the next few chapters of The Martian the other day and it was just as good as when I first started reading. Things have started to take shape about Mark Watney's situation. He's all alone on Mars and has no way of communicating with Earth or his fellow astronauts and there won't be anyone back to Mars for 4 years. He's got water and food that would have supported the entire crew all to himself, but the food won't last for 4 years, even if he rations. Fortunately, Mark is a botanist and a mechanical engineer, so he comes up with a plan to grow food on Mars. 1) get dirt; 2) turn dirt into soil with his own waste; 3) plant potatoes 4) water potatoes. The only problem he has is that to make water, he's got to play around with rocket fuel without blowing things up. We'll see how this goes in the next chapters, but he seems to have a decent plan to try to stay alive for quite a while. Interestingly, this is kinda like the Alone show I spoke about in my last post. They lasted 56 days, hope Mark lasts longer.

Promos for Bronze I

I made it through promos to bronze II last week and kept plugging away this week. Patch 5.16 threw things awry a bit with the updates for 'juggernauts', but I think things are settling down again. People have even stopped banning Mordekaiser and the champions that we're updated in 5.16. Now I am at the cusp of making it to Bronze I. I've won most of my games in this run as Morgana, Heimerdinger, or Xin Zhao, and hope to pull off another win in this promo series to get back to the highest level I've been at this season. One more win, then I get to rank up and try to finally make my goal of attaining Silver this season.
