Blaugust Day 9 – Bilgewater and Fitness Plans
Blaugust day 9 sees the Bilgewater event just about over in Leauge of Legends and I finally decided to take a look at what it was all about. It was an interesting diversion from ranked play as it focused on ARAM fights. These require little strategy and are done pretty quickly compared to ranked matches. I also ramble about getting back into running to get fit.
League of Legends
Today I spent a bit of time trying to get some of the Bilgewater rewards in League of Legends. It was pretty fun since it has been quite a few months since I played any ARAM and the random nature of the champ select is a neat way to make me play champs I don't usually experience. I played Singed, Nautilus, Katarina, Lissandra, and Ryze . All fun champs, but ones that I don't typically play, particularly in ranked since I don't have the experience with them that I do with my mains. It was interesting to play Kat since I have spent many games fighting against her. I think I need to play her a bit more to get a better feel for her abilities and cooldowns so I can be better against her. The other champs worked out well too and I ended up going 4-1 with those guys, only losing the game with Singed because the other team was made up of Mumu, WW, Yi, Draven, and MF – they cause me some problems and while I got plenty of kills, they destroyed my team and we lost. Signed helped me get a bunch of cs though which was part of the Bildgewater event. So I managed to get the summoner icon pretty easily, but I needed to WIN 3 games to get the reward for act 2. I could not win an ARAM to save my life…so I tried ranked – at least I know I can pick a champ I am somewhat familiar with. Well…I won so I got…a second summoner icon. Funny thing about these rewards, I have used the same summoner icon for the past year and a half.
Getting Fit
I've decided to start running again. I made this decision because I went out for a little 10 minute jog and was winded after 3 minutes. Wow – I am outta shape! I've got to put some effort into being healthy again, and my favorite way of doing that is running. I am going to work on a Couch-to-5k plan to build up to something I can feel good about. having done a bunch of running in the past, I know this will help me in all areas of my life – health, spirituality, mentality. About the only thing that running doesn't seem to help is gaming time. Since I can't run while I sleep or while I am at work, exercise has to take time from my 'leisure' time. Right now most leisure time that I am not spending with others is sitting in front of my computer gaming. So running cuts into my gaming time, which is fine since as I mentioned, running helps so many things.

I didn’t mind the reskinned ARAM portion of the Bilgewater event, but Black Market Brawlers was kind of meh. Having different minion types was alright, even the new items were cool, but just seemed sort of meaningless.
You should try to play a game with Gangplank (if you own him) as you’ll get a skin for him provided you do so before the event ends (tomorrow, I believe).
