Blaugust Day 4: #BCFA and Halt and Catch Fire rambling
It's Blaugust Day 4 and I feel like making a few comments on some of my favorite televisions shows right now – Big Crazy Family Adventure and Halt and Catch Fire.
Big Crazy Family Adventure (#BCFA) – Leg 8: Toy Trains and a Fever
So sad that Taj got sick this episode. He seem to recover quickly with the help of the medication but it was sad to see him being so uncomfortable. Before he got sick and after he recovered he seemed to be doing real well and enjoying himself and I really love that Bodi got him the rubber koosh ball that seemed to really brighten up his spirits. He seems to know exactly what would help Taj feel better. With only 100 miles left to go that hike looks pretty daunting. I agree that taking a three-year-old on such a trek could be tiring but I hope he enjoys it. He seems to be enjoying everything else so far and from the way the family behaves, they've done this kind of thing before. This is still definitely my go-to show when I want to have a happy pick me up. It brings me so much joy to watch this wonderful family travel the world and I love it every week. I'll be really sad when the season is over – hopefully they'll make a season two.
Halt and Catch Fire (#HaltAndCatchFire @HaltAMC) – Heaven Is a Place
Once again this show was a wonderful trip through the nostalgia of the computer industry in the 80s. I really enjoy it. Covering everything from the birth of online games, to chat rooms, to avatars, to viruses, I think this has been another wonderful season and I hope there is more. The way the season finale left it is really open ended. They could easily end the series with that episode where everybody's going off to California to start their new lives, but it also makes great possibilities for a new season. Positioning Joe as one of the founding fathers of antivirus technology and Gordon as one of the founders of virus software I think it was pretty genius. Cameron and Donna being pioneers of online gaming and social media was also great – I remember the bulletin-board systems I used to frequent when I started out in computers – yes there was social networking before the Internet. There are definitely still some open loops that will make for a great third season if it gets the opportunity. I'll have to check the ratings and AMC to see what the probability of them coming back is. I sure hope they do.
It's still not too late to join Blaugust – just go to the initiative page at Tales of the Aggronaut or take a look at the Blaugust Nook on Anook.
