Last day of ComicCon
The last day of the con is usually the day I ensure that I've purchased anything that I'm interested in. I spent most of the day running around the exhibit hall or rather running into traffic and other people in the exhibit hall. The hall was packed! It was great to see a bunch of kids with their parents there but at the same time I hope it doesn't turn them off to comics and the industry because of the craziness of the convention floor.
Exhibit Hall Adventures
Unfortunately something I had found the previous day I was unable to find again. I wanted to purchase a John Carter of Mars Omnibus but I could not find it in any of the comic book retailers in the exhibit hall, so sad, but I will support my local comic book shop and go there today to either pick it up or place an order for it. I also could not find a copy of the iZombie trade paperback. I would've figured that with the show on television right now that they would have copies of the graphic novel, but I was unable to find them anywhere. Another something to pick up or order at my local comic book store.
True Detective is Good
With ComicCon having let out early today, I watched a little television to catch up. The gun battle scene at the end of True Detective was very impressive. I really enjoyed how they shifted from one locale to another and carried the gun battle throughout. I thought it seemed realistic that the people with automatic weapons were hitting the cops because they fired tons of bullets while the cops that were shooting pistols were unable to hit the bad guys as often – they also ran out of ammo which happens in real life. It was a great scene and I really enjoyed it. I was skeptical about this season with the first couple of episodes but I am coming to enjoy it – it's not the same ground breaking show as last year, but it is entertaining and I love the fact that it is highlighting the corruption in L.A. and California in general – who needs a high speed train when no one will use it…the unions and corrupt politicians.
Mr. Robot is Excellent
While Big Crazy Family Adventure is at the top of my list for family entertainment and happy times, Mr. Robot is up at the top of my list for a lot of other reasons – subversiveness, intrigue, and conspiracies. It really seems like every week I am watching a one hour movie. True there is a kind of Fight Club vibe to the show and a lot of computer IT and hacker jargon, but this has got to be one of the best shows on television right now. It's not going to make you happy or help you to learn anything about families or nature, but it will make you think and entertain you.
