Scarybooster Challenge accomplished
A few days ago, Rowan Blaze over at I Have Touched the Sky issued a challenge to bloggers participating in the Blaugust challenge – make a post from a mobile device. This challenge he has dubbed – the 'Scarybooster' challenge.
Well, I am accepting the challenge, but in a way, I am cheating – I make most of my posts from my iPad. I've had a few instances where I had to use my laptop for posting – particularly when trying to include a couple of YouTube videos, and a couple times I used my iPhone because I was out and about without my tablet. For 99% of my posts though, I am using my iPad.
The main app I use is called Blogsy. It hooks up easily to my WordPress website and can post pictures from my photo app without any issues – I am thinking of migrating to an online photo store, but haven't moved in that direction yet. Other apps I use include Evernote for taking notes, clipping web pages, and outlining things; and Drafts for…writing my draft posts.
I have started using a Jot Script Stylus by Adonit for manipulating images, but I still haven't quite gotten used to it so I still use my fingers mostly. I also have a Bluetooth keyboard, but it mostly stays in my backpack as I have grown used to the virtual keyboard. Finally, I also use Siri sometimes to take my dictation, but that is mostly small post fragments, that I then pull together in Blogsy.
As Rowan mentions, it is great knowing that whenever I want and wherever I am, I can slap together a post and send it off to the ether. I've posted from the beach, the desert, a baseball game, and a restaurant. Many of my first drafts are thrown together on the drive to work as I dictate to Siri. Actually, I don't think I would be blogging if I had to be sitting at my computer in order to do it.
This is post 16 in my Blaugust Challenge.
