Ozymandias Speaks
I find it interesting that The Mittani would use the phrase “Slouching Towards Bethlehem” for the title of his latest Goonswarm update, for when looking at the poem from whence the quote comes, there is a clear indication that the old ways are coming to an end [Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;]. The old power structure that is the CFC has loosed mere anarchy upon the world (anarchy to simply gain them ISK), and even though they have made progress in their war (initial surprise usually can guarantee early gains), “surely some revelation is at hand”.
I fear that the Mittani may have looked at an appropriate poem for inspiration of his speech, but he seems to have missed the point of the author. The Second Coming, that is the title of Yeats' poem, does not portend the second coming of Christ (as I figure The Mittani sees himself), but of a “rough beast” that has had it's “twenty centuries of stony sleep… vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle”. It is more fitting to equate the rough beast to TEST and a new order of things, that has been awakened by the invasion of Fountain (the cradle that formed TEST into what it is now) by the CFC, and who is now slouching “towards Bethlehem to be born” (or maybe they're headed to Deklein).
Perhaps the poem Mittens should be looking at more closely is Shelley's Ozymandias.
