Good News Everyone…Not Really
It has been widely reported that Futurama is once again preparing to air it's last episode.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the last episode will be shown September 4th, and Comedy Central will let the show go after 140 episodes. But there is always hope that another option may open up and the producers, Matt Groening included, have indicated they would like to see the show continued.
The show has always been one of my favorites, touching on all manner of topics scifi and geek related. Not many TV series can run the gamut from hilariously funny to heartwarmingly touching, but Futurama had no problems here. There are some definitely good episodes in that 140 show run and it will be sorely missed. Looking to the future though, I can see myself watching the reruns in syndication, as that was the only way to get my fix for so long prior to Comedy Central taking it over.
Perhaps with fan support, Netflix, SyFy or Nickelodeon will grab the show and give it another few seasons.
