SDCC – Preview Night
The plan for Preview night was to get the lay of the land.
The trolley trip to the convention center went smoothly and all that stood between me and Comic-Con 2012 was the badge line which…
…did not materialize – I got in and got my badge just as quickly as I walked in.
But even though badge pickup went fast, I was not the only one here – there were a few thousand of my closest friends here as well.
No panels were scheduled, but there is always plenty to see, and the exhibit hall is usually less crowded that most other days. This makes it a prime time to check out what people are selling/giving away, and promoting.
The Hobbit (coming out in December) is, of course, a big deal, as is Batman (which comes out in a few weeks).
Star Wars always has a large presence,
and Before Watchmen is one of the larger events in the comics world right now, and has stirred up a bunch of controversy.
And, as always, I could never attend a preview night without a trip to the Tick booth to pick up the latest tshirts and comics.
After a few hours of wandering about and exploring, they announced the show was closing for the night. I was saddened, but little did I know what was really going on…
Fortunately, I got out of the building before the attack began…only to be thwarted by a strange occurance for Southern California…
Some kind of mechanical monstrosity blocked my path back to the trolley for 10 minutes. Once it passed, though, the trolley carried me away to dream about what the next few days of adventure would hold for me.
