3 Helpful Resources for Building your Secret World Character
In preparation for the early access period of the Secret World, I went in search of information about the skills and abilities that make up a character in the game.
With the classless and level-less system, you get the opportunity to mix and match the 500+ skills to make a ‘deck’ of 7 active and 7 passive abilities that will hopefully be able to take on the zombies and demons of the world, but which ones work well together? I found a few good indications of how things fit together in these articles on character design.
- The first resource I looked at for information, was drawn directly from the developers. Martin Bruusaard gives a good description of the various components of character building and development in his blog post on character development at the main secret world web site.
- Following up on this information, Seki performed an in depth analysis of the weapon synergy and builds of various ability combinations in the forums. His spreadsheet provides a good visual of how the different weapons inter-operate on damage, state, and trigger characteristics.
- Finally, Yokai expands on the previous two articles by looking more closely at how passive abilities provide a bridge between weapon abilities. His wiki contains a lot of other information, but for character building, I found his article on build mechanics and build philosophy very informative.
I hope this helps anyone looking for information about building their first character. Like in other games, I am drawn to a healing and support role, so I will probably be looking to incorporating Fists, Assault Rifle, and Blood Magic into some build combination.
