Anticipating Diablo III
Less than 24 hours until Diablo III is officially released, and I can not wait. While I had access to the beta, I really did not give it much effort, and it has been years since I last seriously played Diablo II. Interestingly, when I learned that Diablo III was coming out, I reinstalled Lord of Destruction and ran through a few acts just to relive the many joyful times gone by.
In all though, I probably spent about 2 hours in the beta. I liked the updated visuals and the game play was pretty much as I had remembered it from days of yore. I was also reminded of an annoying part of trying to play with strangers on BattleNet – unless you limit the levels, someone (of higher level) in your PUG can run to the end of the content and defeat the act – causing you to “win” while not even seeing the end boss. So with my Witch Doctor successful at level 7, I put down the beta to wait for the real thing.
I have pretty high expectations for Diablo III. I remember long nights of running around as my Necromancer shooting bone spears at demons and blowing up every corpse in sight. My Valkyrie and decoy were my Amazon’s best friends, and naked Sorceress runs were challenging and memorable experiences. Even today, I am transported back to that time whenever a hear a few bars of the familiar music that permeated the soundtrack. I truly look forward to forging new memories with Diablo III.
Unfortunately, I have to work in the morning, so a midnight run is not an option – I guess I’ll just have to settle with the pre-download installation and see what adventures I can get into tomorrow.
