This is a really cool issue that marks the beginning of Jason Aaron’s run with the Viking Legend and it actually tackles three different eras of his life. We see the early years before Thor has proven he is worthy of wielding Mjolnir but instead he uses an axe to fight a frost giant in 9th century Iceland. We then see him answer the prayers of some Indigarr natives as they pray to their lost gods. But we soon learn they are not lost but have been killed and a present day Thor embarks on a hunt to confront their murderer. Finally we see Thor in the far future where it appears he is the last of the Asgardians preparing to fight someone called the Butcher of Gods. I’m looking forward to seeing where this story goes from here.

My Recommendation: Read it.
