Legacy, Pods, and Consoles
Daily Ramble 75: Legacy, Pods, and Consoles
Today I moved on to the next chapter in DC’s Rebirth comic and while I found it enjoyable, I got a bit lost with characters I know less of. Speaking of less knowledge, I really played horribly today in SMITE since I was on the PS4. I used to be much better but have forgotten a bunch of the commands for the controller and played pretty poorly. Finally today, I visited Deputy Andy and took his Draugnet mission. I figured it was time to learn more about where all these Draug and zombies are coming from.
Draug Lore
One thing I’ve been doing since I started playing Secret World Legends is returning to the Sheriff’s station at the end of each gaming session. I just really don’t want to end the day out in the creepy world of Kingsmouth or start the day with zombies or worse in my face. The Sheriff’s station is a nice place where I know I’ll be safe. Also, since I’m a patron, I get free teleports from anima wells so I can always get back to the station easily. I beleive anyone can teleport back to Agartha but I like the station.
So starting out at the station each day gives me the opportunity to re-run any of the missions at the station so I often run them to gain some extra Ps (XP, SP, and AP) and I get to say hi to all the folks that hang out there. Today I headed up to the roof to say hi to Deputy Andy and I took him up on the Draugnet mission.
The idea of this mission is to go out to the harbor and find out what’s going on with the pods that are being dragged up on the beach.
As I go along through the mission I am tasked with taking on the Feigr Lord who’s a nasty guy out in the bay. He spits water and has a few area attacks but wasn’t too difficult to take down at level 14.
Getting past him, I send off my report to the Templars and learn that once again I’m doing the right thing for them.
After passing all this info to then it’d be nice to meet them someday. But I’m good with the back-and-forth exchange of information for now.
Console is Way Diffrent
I fired up SMITE in my PC this morning and saw that the game was down for an update…bummer. Undeterred to get in my MOBA fix of the day though, I started up my PS4 to see if the patch had already installed there and it had. I was good to go…or so I thought.
It’s been over a month since I played SMITE on my console and I am extremely rusty. I couldn’t even remember how to BACK to base. Things are so different on the PS4 as you’d expect but for some reason, the control scheme doesn’t come naturally to me – I’ll have to play more often so I don’t keep forgetting the layout.
In any case, I shoulda stayed with my Kukulkan instead of moving to my current main on the PC – Sol. I just really couldn’t get things moving in the right direction and I got wiped out in a Joust and a Clash match – both of which we could have won if I just had a clue what I was doing. I think I was being placed in higher level games since I had gotten pretty good at Kukulkan a few months ago and that could be part of the problem I was having, but I was really bad.
DC’s Rebirth: Chapter 2 – Legacy
This chapter is a bit less friendly to the uninitiated. There are quite a few characters that are touched upon who I have no idea who they are. The first chapter was mostly Flash and Batman but in this part of the tale, we see a bunch of others…Blue Beetle, someone called Johnny Thunder, a woman who’s seen the future, Power Ring, Doctor Fate, and others. The final page of this chapter depicts a female hero who talks about how there is always hope and how the heroes embody hope in the universe. That is, right before she explodes in a brilliant blue light.
But for the most part, other than talking to Johnny Thunder, Wally is just talking to us from afar. He does tell Johnny to keep searching for the Justice Society and mentions how he feels bolstered by the fact that there are heroes who’s legacy is not forgotten, but I’m gonna have to do some research to find out more about what’s going on in this chapter.
The art is still incredible and I still get the sense that something big is happening, but I’m not as firmly grounded in this chapter. Perhaps when I find out more about who these heroes are I’ll be able to relate a bit better but for now, with my lack of background, I feel a bit lost in this legacy chapter.
